Dementia Pathfinders Annual Presentation Event

July 2018

We will be holding our annual presentation event on Wednesday, 11th July 2018 at Hallam Conference Centre in central London. This is an open event, it's free to attend, all our friends and supporters are invited.

In the morning there will be a performed playreading of 'Fighting for Life' by Brian Daniels The play was inspired by the true story of one family’s struggle to get the care that both their parents needed as they faced serious health challenges in later life. The reading will be followed by audience discussion and Q&A with the actors and playwright and special guest, Helen Findlay.

The afternoon will consist of two sessions: the first, from 1.30pm until 3.30pm, will be a structured presentation session focusing on the work of Dementia Pathfinders. Then, from 3.30pm until 5pm, we will be holding a 'bring and share' informal and interactive networking session.

A particular highlight will be a talk by Simon Ball and Lori Hayden about the challenges of living with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) followed by the screening of a beautiful evocative film 'Do I see what you see?' which Simon produced as part of the 'Created Out Of Mind' residency at the Wellcome Collection. This will take place in the early afternoon session.

We will also be hosting the Margaret Butterworth Awards again this year. The winners will be presented with certificates and prizes by Chris and Jayne Roberts. Plus we will be hearing from Mike Parish and Tom Hughes about living with dementia from an LGBT perspective and Rev Veronica Brown, David Jolley and family carer, Barry Jackman, about our 'Dementia Conversations' groups.
